HISTORY

Creative and life partners, David and Margaret Boucher, together with their small team of elite artisans, have been designing and creating bespoke furniture and luxury objects in Queensland Australia since 1977.  Even from the beginning each commission was seen as a challenge to reach further, to attempt what others thought impossible, to entertain and amaze their clients.

Both David and Margaret come from farming backgrounds. Margaret, the youngest of sixteen children, was raised on a struggling dairy farm. She grew up inspired by her mother to be creative, resilient and grateful. David grew up immersed in both the practical world of farming and the entertaining world of theatre.  His parents worked their orchard by day, resolving the never-ending farm life problems …. if it broke, they fixed it; if it was needed, they made it, while in the evenings, they led an amateur musical theatre company. These strong influences are evident in David’s passion for designing and making things along with his innate ability to add intrigue and magic to his work.

In their work today, David leads concept design, client collaboration and oversees the attention to detail - bringing his mastery of rare materials, mechanical design and legacy-focused storytelling to the pieces. While Margaret, with calm clarity, decisive project leadership and an eye for refined design sense, overseas operations.

Expo ’88 opened the door to international recognition, and inspirations such as the luxury and elegance of Rolls-Royce and the refinement of Art Deco shaped their path. Nearly five decades later, they continue to honour those influences, while creating unique strong contemporary pieces. Innovative, beautiful, functional and always bespoke.
