Crafted from richly figured Burr Walnut and Macassar Ebony, the exterior sets a tone of quiet luxury. Framed with solid African black Ebony mouldings and resting on finely detailed moulded Ebony feet, the box has a strong almost architectural presence. Both grounded and graceful.

Inside, a lift-out bookrest, made from matching Burr Walnut, cradles the book. It’s a fascinating story filled with remarkable client tales, including the now-famous commission for a $50,000 Vicuna coat, the subject of another book, The Coat Trail.

Beneath the book, a hidden compartment can be revealed, lined in luxurious, deep brown leather. Precision-fitted, it houses Mr Cutler’s favourite Tasmanian Lark Whisky, alongside bespoke glasses and engraved Shagreen coasters. The floor of the compartment is finished with a lift-out panel, playful and personal, lined in embroidered J.H. Cutler pink silk, a nod to the fine tailoring traditions that run through the heart of this project.

Crowning the lid is a beautifully detailed, hand-carved medallion, cast in nickel-plated bronze and engraved with the elegant initials “J.H.C.” A finishing touch that speaks of refinement, legacy, and timeless craftsmanship.
