MECHANICAL WATCH BOX
A client came to us with a quiet request: a watch box for her husband -something worthy of a lifetime of moments.
We began with rich, fumed Eucalyptus, its grain deep as old whisky, set on bespoke cast-bronze feet with the weight and poise of a grand tourer.
On the lid, we mapped the night. The Milky Way is hand-worked into the timber in powdered gold, silver and copper, while a significant star cluster glows with 0.5 mm fibre-optic light -subtle, precise, a private constellation. The lid itself is a small piece of theatre: a bronze gear-and-lever mechanism brought to life by an ebony-trimmed handle, opening with a smooth, engineered confidence.
Inside, three Scatola del Tempo winders are built in, with leather-padded bolsters for three more watches and a berth for two strap watches laid perfectly flat. The interior is fully leather-lined and edged in solid black Ebony- cool, calm, immaculate, just like the man this special piece is made to celebrate. A hand-carved glass and bronze key doesn’t just lock the box. Via a very hidden lock, it engages and releases a concealed compartment, a secret known only to its keeper.
Lift the lid and you meet a final flourish: a panel of burgundy shagreen, rich and tactile, catching the light like a whispered promise. A gift, yes -but also a time capsule, crafted to hold stories for generations.
