Each item of material was painstakingly selected. Macassar Ebony, cognac coloured Shagreen, nickel plated brass and Italian leather. The very intricate drawer-opening mechanisms and the nickel-plated brass feet have been custom made for this piece. Drawer sides are made from quarter-sawn solid Queensland Silver Ash and feature very fine, hand-cut dovetails. Each drawer is precision fitted with fine black Italian leather.
The secret compartment under the lid provides storage for seven pens. The top drawer is fitted with padded, leather rolls for rings, cufflinks and/or earrings. The middle drawer is slightly deeper and is fitted with three, leather lined, front to back compartments suitable for various items of jewellery. The bottom drawer also has three leather lined compartments and has nine removable bolsters for watches and/or bracelets. These bolsters are padded and wrapped with leather.

The box is beautifully hand finished with a durable satin lacquer. There are even protective leather pads with hand skived and folded edges under each foot.

The Shagreen we use in our products is tanned and dyed using natural pigment. It’s environmentally friendly and created from commercially discarded skins of farmed stingray that are neither endangered nor threatened and are originally harvested as a food source. Materials used in our products are not included in the list of C.I.T.E.S (Convention International Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna).
