The Chess Board is framed with rare Macassar Ebony and inlaid with a unique double slip-match of Macassar Ebony and cream Shagreen squares. The unique, custom-made folding hinges are rhodium plated and allow the board to be opened flat and locked into position. The back of the board is framed with solid black Ebony and inlaid with red Shagreen.
Unique Art Deco inspired Chess Pieces are hand carved from solid black Ebony and Canadian Rock Maple.
The special Box to store the board and chess pieces is made from Macassar Ebony with three seamlessly inlaid squares of red Shagreen on the top. This design is inspired by the chess board the box protects. The interior is lined with luxurious red Italian leather. Two lift-out trays with polished timber handles are perfectly fitted for each chess piece. Under the box is finished with a protective leather pad with intricately folded edges. The high gloss finish is a very durable, hand-cut and buffed clear lacquer. Signed and engraved with the registered number.

The Shagreen we use in our products is tanned and dyed using natural pigment. It’s environmentally friendly and created from commercially discarded skins of farmed stingray that are neither endangered nor threatened, and are originally harvested as a food source. Materials used in our products are not included in the list of C.I.T.E.S (Convention International Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna).
