Art Deco design has its origins in the Pharaonic period of ancient Egypt. The mystery and exotic allure of this iconic period were our inspiration for this very special piece. The lit shagreen panels recreate the effect of sunrise reflecting off the polished white marble capstones that were stolen off the original pyramid many centuries ago. Creating these chamfered edge panels and the translucent lampshade in shagreen was an extraordinarily difficult thing to achieve. Much like building the amazing pyramid it was inspired by.
Shagreen is traditionally opaque but here it has been worked into four triangles of just one millimetre thin, joined with precision and hand worked in such a way that the bone-covered leather turns semi-translucent. Light passes through as a soft, ethereal glow.
There are four concealed drawers made with solid Queensland Silver Ash sides with extremely precise, very fine hand-cut dovetails, solid Queensland Maple fronts trimmed with solid black Ebony. Each drawer is fitted with fine Italian red leather linings made entirely in our workrooms, in the style of the very best leather craftsmanship from Milan. Bespoke feet reflect the truncated pyramid design and were hand made from Nickel Silver plated brass.
The light has a ‘secret’ on/off mechanism and there are two very secret compartments, each leather lined, waiting to be discovered.

For ease of use in any country, a standard C14 connector is fitted into the back of the cabinet which allows for any ‘country specific’ standard IEC plug computer power cord to be plugged in to power the light source. (A standard IEC computer power cord has a country specific standard power plug attached on one end and a c13 power cord couplet to the other. This is a standard desktop computer power cord.)

The Shagreen we use in our products is tanned and dyed using natural pigment. It’s environmentally friendly and created from commercially discarded skins of farmed stingray that are neither endangered nor threatened, and are originally harvested as a food source. Materials used in our products are not included in the list of C.I.T.E.S (Convention International Trade of Endangered Species of Flora and Fauna).
